The 1979 set of Imade College Owo Old Students Association (IMACOSA) has commended Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for appointing Olayide Adelami as the state’s deputy governor. This recognition took place during the association's 50th reunion event held at Imade College in Owo on Saturday.

During the celebration, IMACOSA's worldwide president, Isiaka Kareem, expressed gratitude to the governor for selecting Adelami for the prestigious role. Kareem highlighted Adelami’s significant contributions to the school, citing these efforts as the basis for awarding him an accolade of excellence.

Tunde Owadimbola, the coordinator for the 1979 set, noted that Imade College has nurtured numerous distinguished individuals who have become leaders in various sectors, including the current deputy governor. He remarked, “Imade College is more than just a school; it is a foundation that instills essential moral values such as discipline, honesty, resilience, and hard work.”

Owadimbola described the reunion as a celebration of hope, empathy, friendship, and shared values. In response to the honor, Deputy Governor Adelami acknowledged the commitment of Governor Aiyedatiwa to education, emphasizing its critical role in alleviating generational poverty.

“The governor understands the importance of alumni associations in enhancing educational quality for young people. On behalf of all awardees, I appreciate IMACOSA for this recognition and pledge to continue supporting my alma mater,” Adelami stated.

Imade College, a member of the Aionian group of schools, was established in March 1946 as the first post-primary institution in Owo and one of the pioneering colleges in present-day Ondo State. In 2023, it was recognized as the best public secondary school in Nigeria by the Federal Ministry of Education.

This reunion not only honors past achievements but also reinforces the enduring legacy of Imade College in shaping future leaders.
