Imo NYSC Coordinator Urges Corps Members to Integrate with Host Communities

The Imo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, urged Corps Members to integrate with their host communities and respect local traditions during their service year. Speaking at the 2024 Batch B Stream II orientation closing ceremony, she emphasized the importance of using Community Development Service (CDS) to address local needs and promote nation-building.

The Imo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, has called on Corps Members to integrate with their host communities, respect local cultures, and actively contribute to community development during their service year.

Speaking at the official closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch B Stream II orientation program, Mrs. Idaewor emphasized that by serving in Imo State, the Corps Members have effectively become part of the community and should work towards making a positive impact. She highlighted the importance of utilizing the Community Development Service (CDS) to address the needs of their host communities and promote nation-building efforts.

“To get it right, you should integrate with members of the community,” Mrs. Idaewor advised, urging Corps Members to respect local traditions while using the CDS to solve pressing challenges within their communities.

As the Corps Members prepare for their Primary Assignments, the Coordinator urged them to display diligence, discipline, and resourcefulness in their assigned duties. She also encouraged them to continue building on the skills they acquired during the orientation course, particularly through the Post-Camp Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.

Mrs. Idaewor further cautioned Corps Members against unauthorized travel and night journeys, reminding them to suspend their trips if it becomes necessary after 6 p.m. She stressed the importance of being law-abiding and maintaining the trust placed in them by both the NYSC and their families.

In her closing remarks, the Coordinator expressed her appreciation to the Imo State Government, course officials, and the Corps Members for the successful orientation exercise.
