Indigenous Oil Firm Establishes Climate Monitoring Station at UNIUYO

Oriental Energy Resources Limited, an indigenous oil firm, has handed over the first phase of a climate monitoring and observation station to the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Akwa Ibom State. The facility, installed at the university's main campus, aims to provide practical experience in climatology and climate change studies.

Mr. Mustafa Indimi, Managing Director of Oriental Energy, emphasized the company's commitment to combatting climate change, stating that the project aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 on Climate Action. The facility is expected to encourage research across various disciplines and pave the way for capacity-building programs on climate and meteorology.

Professor Oby Lilian Orogbu, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), commended Oriental Energy for its contribution to environmental sustainability and scientific research in Nigeria. She highlighted the importance of accurate climate data for understanding climate patterns and developing effective strategies.
