“It’s not surprising that Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) ranked best in research quality,” said Auwalu Umar, the Director of Public Affairs at the university. His statement followed the recent release of the World University Rankings 2025 by Times Higher Education (THE), which placed ABU in the 1001-1200 range globally and ranked it second nationally, just behind Covenant University.
Umar explained that this achievement reflects the university's commitment to quality research and its efforts to adhere to global standards. He emphasized that ABU's strong performance in research quality is supported by various initiatives, including thorough internal evaluations and the establishment of a dedicated directorate for research and innovation.
He noted that research output significantly contributed to ABU's ranking, particularly in areas such as agriculture, artificial intelligence, and biomedical sciences.
