Kaduna State University (KASU) has partnered with Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) to address the global digital divide. This collaboration was launched following the “Journalism in 2024: Creativity, Profession, Industry” conference held at MSU in February 2025.

In a historic move aimed at addressing the global digital divide, Kaduna State University (KASU) has partnered with Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) in Russia. This collaboration, which emerged from a successful international conference titled “Journalism in 2024: Creativity, Profession, Industry,” held at MSU’s Faculty of Journalism from February 5 to 8, 2025, seeks to foster knowledge sharing and innovation in the face of digital challenges.

The KASU delegation, led by Honourable Commissioner of Education, Prof. Muhammad Sani Bello, and accompanied by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Prof. Ayodele Joseph, and Mr. Mendos Bala Dogo, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, presented impactful discussions on Africa’s unique media landscape. Their focus included the influence of technology on journalism, as well as the opportunities and challenges that artificial intelligence presents to the industry.

The conference provided a dynamic platform for scholars and researchers to explore innovative strategies aimed at bridging the digital divide. Discussions at the event also highlighted the crucial role that technology plays in reshaping the media and communication sectors globally, with an emphasis on how institutions can collaborate across borders to advance digital inclusivity.
