Kaduna State University Participates in 2nd Russian-African Media Forum

Kaduna State University (KASU) recently participated in the second edition of the Russian-African Media Forum for Young Media Practitioners, held on November 21-22, 2024, at the Institute of World Economy Business Hall of RUDN University, Moscow, Russia.

The forum featured a plenary session and roundtable discussions, focusing on key issues like Journalism Education, collaboration between young professionals in Russia and Africa, and media literacy to combat disinformation.

Notable contributors from KASU included Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Ayodele Joseph, Dean of the Faculty of Communications and Media Studies. Discussions centered around strengthening media relations and addressing challenges such as disinformation and stereotypes in media coverage.

A highlight of the forum was the establishment of a strategic partnership between KASU and RUDN University, aiming to enhance academic collaboration through student exchanges and joint programs. Additionally, two young African media professionals received scholarships to pursue master's programs at KASU, thanks to the Vice Chancellor's support.

The forum also acknowledged RUDN University’s efforts in producing skilled media professionals through its specialized programs in multimedia journalism, global media, and international journalism. The partnership sets the stage for future collaboration in media education, research, and additional professional development.
