Katsina State Government Invests Over N340 Million in Power Restoration and Security at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University

The Katsina State Government, led by Governor Dikko Radda, has approved an investment of over N340 million for two essential electricity projects at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, aimed at restoring power and improving security.

The first project, valued at over N260 million, focuses on replacing a critical 33KVA indoor control panel and components essential to the university’s power infrastructure. This move is intended to resolve ongoing power outages that have disrupted academic activities.

In addition, the government has allocated over N98 million for the installation of solar-powered security lighting to enhance safety for students and staff. This step aims to curb vandalism and create a more secure campus environment.

Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu-Yar’adua, Director of Press at the office of the Secretary to the State Government, highlighted that these projects are part of Governor Radda’s broader plan to elevate educational standards across the state. The governor’s swift action follows recent power disruptions, demonstrating his dedication to addressing infrastructural challenges in academic institutions.

In response, the university administration has postponed the resumption of classes, initially set for mid-September, until power is fully restored. This ensures that students return to a stable and secure learning environment.
