Kogi Poly Rector Challenges New SUG, NAKOSS Leaders to Set New Standards in Accountability and Unity

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has urged the newly elected executives of the Student Union Government (SUG) and the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) to prioritize transparency, accountability, and unity in their leadership.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has called on the newly elected executives of the Student Union Government (SUG) and National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) to uphold their commitment to student welfare through transparent and accountable leadership.

At the inauguration ceremony held at the Polytechnic’s main campus, Professor Ogbo Usman congratulated the new SUG and NAKOSS leaders, urging them to embody exemplary leadership that prioritizes unity over division, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

Commending the electoral committee for conducting a credible election, Professor Ogbo Usman also acknowledged the defeated candidates for their sportsmanship, encouraging the newly elected leaders to foster inclusiveness by involving their peers in day-to-day governance. He cautioned the new executives against being swayed by divisive influences and assured them of the institution’s continued commitment to student welfare.

In her acceptance speech, the newly elected SUG President, Comrade Enimokanyi Oluwadamilola Janet, expressed gratitude to her fellow candidates, pledging to lead with humility and work towards enhancing student unionism for the benefit of all students. She also called on the student body for their support in achieving these goals.

Similarly, the NAKOSS President, Abubakar Isah Sheriff, promised to advocate for Kogi State indigenes at the Polytechnic, assuring them of active representation and support throughout his tenure.

The event featured the swearing-in of the new executives, with the SUG and NAKOSS leaders receiving certificates of return. Key members of the SUG executive team include:
