Kogi State Polytechnic Lecturers Dismissed Over Alleged Sexual Harassment

Kogi State Polytechnic lecturers have been dismissed by the Kogi State Government due to allegations of sexual harassment. Isah Emmanuel Ojodunwene, Senior Special Assistant on Students Affairs, announced this action during a meeting on anti-sexual harassment policies.

Kogi State Polytechnic Lecturers Dismissed Over Alleged Sexual Harassment

The Kogi State Government has dismissed several lecturers from Kogi State Polytechnic over allegations of sexual harassment. The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs, Isah Emmanuel Ojodunwene, announced the action during a one-day meeting in Lokoja, focused on adopting an anti-sexual harassment policy in tertiary institutions across the state.

Ojodunwene, while withholding specific details about the number of lecturers dismissed, emphasized that the current administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment. He highlighted recent incidents, including the tragic murder of a 19-year-old student at Federal University Lokoja, as a stark reminder of the need to address harassment issues urgently.

The government has taken decisive action against lecturers involved in sexual harassment, with some currently in prison. Ojodunwene urged heads of educational institutions in Kogi State to adopt stringent measures against harassment. He also encouraged students to report harassment cases without fear of stigma, assuring that perpetrators, regardless of their position, will be held accountable.
