Kristi Barnes, a dedicated student pursuing Chemical Engineering with a minor in Applied Mathematics at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, has been honored with the prestigious United States Astronaut Scholarship. The scholarship, valued at $15,000, is awarded annually to exceptional students excelling in STEM fields.
Barnes, recognized for her academic prowess and commitment to STEM education, expressed her gratitude for being part of a historic cohort, alongside two other students, as the first group from a Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) to receive this prestigious scholarship.
