The Kwara State Government has officially received a letter of recognition from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to establish the Kwara State University of Education in Ilorin. The Deputy Governor, Kayode Afolabi, accepted the licence on behalf of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Acting Executive Secretary of NUC, Mr. Chris Maiyaki, announced the approval, noting that this addition brings the total number of universities in Nigeria to 274, including 64 state-owned and 148 private institutions.

The presentation ceremony followed the submission of three essential strategic documents by the state government: the law establishing the institution, the Academic Brief, and the Physical Master Plan, all approved by the House of Assembly.
