Kwara State University (KWASU) holds 4th Humanities Lecture
Promoting engagement of Artificial Intelligence among scholars in the Arts and Humanities formed the focus of the 4th KWASU Humanities Lecture that was delivered by a Professor of Mechatronics and acadoprenuer, Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu on Thursday November 9, 2023.
Professor Aibinu, who is also the Vice Chancellor of Summit University, Offa, described Artificial Intelligence as the high point of the 4th industrial revolution with the capacity of enhancing multidisciplinary research collaborations and revolutionising the arts and humanities.

Professor Aibinu, who stressed that the fast changing world dynamics arising from the emergence of Artificial Intelligence necessitated scholars in every field to adapt to the changing realities for them to remain relevant.
Professor Aibinu challenged arts and humanities scholars to collaborate with scholars in other disciplines to proffer ways through which engagement with Artificial Intelligence would not infringe on human values in inimical ways.
"Arts and Humanities can help us identify and articulate the ethical values and principles that should guide future development and use of AI," he said.
Earlier in his address, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, stressed that the University would continue to promote the use of emerging technologies to enhance creativity and innovation.
Professor Jimoh challenged the academic community to explore ways of integrating the use of Artificial Intelligence into their teaching and research as a way of harnessing the benefits of creativity and innovation.
The Dean of Faculty of Arts, in his welcome address, maintained that the lecture was organized to empower staff and students with innovative ideas in conducting competitive research and teaching in a fast changing world.
Professor Solihu who noted that cross fertilision of ideas occured during such lectures, listed the previous scholars to grace the Humanities Lectures to include Professor Kofi Anyidoho of the University of Ghana, Professor Gayatri Chakraborty Spivak of Columbia University, USA, and Professor Toyin Falola of the University of Texas at Austin, USA.
