Kwara State University Vice Chancellor Urges New Student Union Leaders to Prioritize Integrity and Collaboration

Kwara State University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, addressed the newly elected executive officers of the Students Union during their inauguration on September 5, 2024. In his speech, Professor Jimoh urged the new executives to lead with integrity, fairness, and transparency, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and unity.

Professor Jimoh highlighted the university’s reputation for maintaining a stable academic calendar and encouraged the new leaders to uphold the peace and order on campus. He commended the outgoing Students Union President, Soliu Kolapo, for his commendable leadership.

The event also saw the election of the 9th Senate President of the 8th Assembly, Ahmed Ayomide Afolabi, with Sherif Olamide Oyelola elected as Deputy Senate President. Oluwabusayomi Deborah Olajubu was chosen as the Senate Clerk, and Sanni Uzair became the Senate Chief Whip.

The ceremony featured a handover of responsibilities to the new team and the inauguration of new parliamentarians. Shuaib Ishaq Yahaya, Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, presented a congratulatory plaque to the Vice Chancellor.

The event was attended by Justice Abdulraheem Ahmed Sayi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Ilorin, along with other principal officers of the university.
