KWASU Muslim Community Inaugurates New Excos

A new executive committee has been inaugurated for the KWASU Muslim community with the charge to drive the affairs of the community to greater achievements. 

The inauguration, which took place in the KWASU Temporary Mosque on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, had in attendance the Chairman and members of the shurah committee and the outgoing executive committee members.

The emergence of the new executives was through a selection process from the nominations made by members of the muslim community.

The Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Dr. Shehu Usman Adam emerged as the Chairman while Dr. Rahman Mustapha, Mr Saka Imam, and Dr Mutiu Akinpelu emerged as first, second, and third Vice-Chairmen, respectively.

Dr. Hauwah K. K. AbdulKareem was selected as the General Secretary while Mr. Saheed Suleiman and Mr. Omojasola would serve as Assistant General Secretary 1 and 2.

Dr. Kabiru Mustapha emerged as the Public Relations Officer; 

Mrs. Lateefat Jimoh as Treasurer; Mr. Ishaq Mohammed, the Auditor;

Dr. Shuaib Abdulhakeem, the Financial Secretary; Dr. Saeedat Aliyu as Editor-in-Chief; and, Dr. Nimat Idris as Welfare Officer.

Others are Mrs. Mariam Ahmed, Staff Representative of Non-Teaching Staff; Dr. Tajudeen Yusuf, Staff Representative Teaching Staff; Barr Abdurazak Zakariyyah, Legal Officer; while Mrs Maryam Aladodo and Mrs Shakirat Aminu were selected to be the Chairperson and Secretary of the Women's wing.

In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Dr. Shehu Usman Adam pledged to work assiduously to achieve the goals of the community.

He stressed that the awareness that all humans will give account of their actions was a guiding principle that would moderate the activities of the executive committee.

He appreciated the roles played by the shurah committee led by Professor Salih Jummah Alaso, the immediate past executives and the entire members of the Muslim Community in ensuring the emergence of a new executive team, reiterating the commitment to addressing concerns raised which include giving periodic reports and maintaining open doors to suggestions.

The new executives have a two year mandate.
