The Lagos State Govt has increased students'bursary by 100%

The Lagos state government has approved an increment of 100 percent on the payment of state bursary to students of Lagos State origin in tertiary institutions across the country, Myschoolnews.ng learnt.

The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board, Mr.  Abdur Rahaman Lekki who announced the bursary review in a statement issued on Sunday, October 16, revealed that the increment would take effect from the 2022/ 2023 academic session

He explained that representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos State Chapter, and the National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS) have already been informed of the upward review at a meeting held at Alausa, Ikeja.

The statement further stated that the 100 percent bursary increment and other benefits were aimed at supporting the educational needs of indigene students of Lagos state, to enable them to meet up with the present economic reality.

He appealed to the students over a little delay in paying the remaining 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 bursary/ scholarship.

The bursary review comes after the students threatened to shut down the Lagos third mainland bridge on Monday, October 17, should the state government fail to pay their bursary on or before Sunday, October 16.
