Lagos State University and UNDP Launch Innovation Hub to Foster Creativity and Entrepreneurship
The Lagos State University (LASU) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has officially launched the LASU Innovation Hub, an incubation center designed to nurture ideas and promote innovation among students.
The launch ceremony, held on July 2, 2025, at the Centre of Excellence for Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (Awori House), Ojo campus, brought together top government officials, royal fathers, industry leaders, and stakeholders.
The innovation hub is equipped with modern digital infrastructure to facilitate a shared space for idea incubation and enhance creativity, research, and access to cutting-edge digital tools.
Speakers at the launch ceremony emphasized the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in driving national growth and development. The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, represented by Ms. Moronke Azeez, highlighted the need for a shared responsibility model where government, private sector, and universities collaborate to promote innovation.
The Resident Representative of UNDP Nigeria, Ms. Elsie Attafuah, noted that the launch of the hub is a bold step in transforming public universities into engines of national growth, enterprise, and real-world solutions. The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, stated that the innovation hub is a launchpad for ideas, solutions, and enterprises that will shape Nigeria and Africa's future .
