The Smart ID Card, sophisticated and stylish in design, serves a dual purpose as an identity card and payment card. It offers students seamless access to academic and financial services, including transactions at ATMs, Point of Sale (POS) terminals, and online platforms. Additionally, the card facilitates access control across LASU premises, enhancing security and authentication measures.
One of the key benefits of the Smart ID Card is its capability to prevent identity fraud and theft, providing critical protection for holder's data. Students are urged to activate their cards on any POS or ATM accessible to them to begin enjoying the Smart Lifestyle benefits associated with the cards.
LASU has opened Smart Card accounts for all cardholders, with account details shared via SMS upon activation. However, only students who have previously provided their National Identification Number (NIN) as requested can activate their cards using the default PIN. Those who haven't provided their NIN are advised to visit their respective departments for further information.
Furthermore, students can upgrade their LASU Smart Card accounts from Tier 1 to higher tiers by providing necessary documentation to any LOTUS bank branch or LASU branch. Required documents for account upgrade include passport, Bank Verification Number (BVN), valid means of identification, valid address, and utility bill.
To activate their cards and change their PIN, students can follow the simple steps provided at any bank ATM:
1. Insert the card into the ATM.
2. Select "Change PIN."
3. Enter the default PIN.
4. Choose a preferred PIN.
Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola OLATUNJI-BELLO emphasizes responsible usage of the Smart ID Cards, urging students to take advantage of the enhanced services while maintaining integrity and security.
