The election, held on July 22, 2024, at the 3-in-1 Executive Hall, saw Prof. Akindoju secure a decisive victory with forty-nine votes.

Prof. Akindoju's election marks a significant moment for LASU, as he outpaced his competitors—Prof. J. P. Gbenu with twenty-six votes, Prof. Simeon Dosunmu with twenty-one votes, Prof. I. O. Abodunrin with five votes, and Prof. A. A. Olaoye with three votes. His extensive expertise and leadership skills are expected to drive progress and foster excellence within the Faculty of Education and the broader university community.
