LASU Emerges Second Runner-Up in ARCON Creative Pitch Competition
Lagos State University (LASU) achieved the distinction of second runner-up in the ARCON Creative Pitch Competition, a significant event hosted under the Advertising Industry Colloquium 2.0.
Lagos State University (LASU) has secured the prestigious position of second runner-up in the recent creative pitch competition organized by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON). The competition, held as part of the Advertising Industry Colloquium 2.0, focused on harnessing emerging technologies for sustainable advertising education and professional excellence in Nigeria.
LASU's commendable achievement in the competition was highlighted by a team of nine students from the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies. The team, comprising Daniel Nworie, Victoria Olanrewaju, Temiloluwa Adegboyegun, Ayomide Olubunmi, Hassan Abdulraheem, Olaseni Larinde, Banks Mustapha, Bolaji Olasehinde, and Ayooluwa Oladiran, developed an innovative behavioral change creative campaign.
The event, graced by dignitaries from the advertising industry, emphasized the role of young talents in leveraging technology to address societal challenges. Participants were tasked with creating impactful campaign plans to combat drug abuse and foster positive mindsets among Nigerian youth.
Six universities advanced to the final round of the competition following a virtual qualifying round held in May 2024. LASU competed alongside Covenant University, Ebonyi State University, Federal University of Kashere, Rivers State University, and the University of Ilorin. Each team presented their campaign ideas during the finals, receiving accolades for their creativity and strategic approach.

In recognition of their outstanding efforts, LASU received a cash prize of ₦500,000 as the second runner-up, following closely behind the University of Ilorin and Covenant University, who clinched the top spots. The Director-General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, commended all participating schools for their contributions to promoting positive societal change through innovative advertising campaigns.
The competition not only showcased the creativity and talent of Nigerian students but also underscored the importance of integrating emerging technologies in educational and professional practices within the advertising industry.
