The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) has called for collective efforts to ensure the institution’s survival and growth amidst rising global insecurity, crime, drug use, and other social disorders.

The call was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, during a security summit organized by LASUED in Otto-Ijanikin, Lagos. She emphasized that as major stakeholders, it is imperative to join hands to nurture the promising citadel of learning.

Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye stressed the need to curb social misdemeanours and ensure the university’s survival, growth, and flourishing. She said, “We can objectify these goals only if we go at it with all hands on deck. Our collective protection of the university is necessary so that by the time the child becomes the father of the man, our names will be written in gold, and we will be happy that we are part of the success story.”

The Vice-Chancellor revealed that the security summit was organized based on these concerns. She also highlighted the university’s development and achievements within one year of its establishment, despite national and local challenges. This, she said, underscores the commitment, dedication, determination, courage, focus, and objectivity that characterize the university’s leadership.

LASUED was established in 2022 following approval by the National Universities Commission and recognition by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in February 2022.
