LAUTECH Medical Lecturers Suspend Four-Month Strike

The strike, which began in August 2025, was triggered by the university management's failure to implement CONMESS and pay arrears owed to the lecturers since January 2025. The Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) LAUTECH chapter had been pushing for the implementation of CONMESS, citing it as a lawful right and overdue correction of injustice.

The association had rejected the university's initial proposal, describing it as "non-committal, delayed, and unacceptable". The lecturers had argued that the implementation of CONMESS was essential for their welfare and the integrity of medical education at LAUTECH.
