Legacy University Okija recently held its eighth matriculation ceremony, officially welcoming new students to the academic institution for the upcoming session. The event was attended by university management and staff, parents of the new students, existing students, and other invited guests.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by Honourable Golden Illoh, Member of the Anambra State House of Assembly for Ihiala II Constituency, praised Legacy University Okija for its dedication to excellence and community service. He encouraged the new students to take their education seriously to make meaningful contributions to their families and society.
In his keynote address, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Leonard Nkameme expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for his steadfast support of the educational sector, which has facilitated the university's growth. Dr. Nkameme also acknowledged the vital role of parents, urging them to continue their support to enhance and sustain the university's educational environment. He encouraged students to use their time wisely and strive for excellence.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Ezekiel Ihionu assured parents and guardians that the university is committed to providing high-quality education, supported by financial contributions and prayers from the university community.
Matriculant Emmanuel Emelife expressed excitement about joining Legacy University and vowed to work diligently to make his family proud.
The ceremony also marked the launch of Legacy University Radio FM, a community radio station designed to give students, staff, and the university community a platform to share ideas, showcase talents, and stay informed. Additionally, the university unveiled a part-time weekend program for working professionals and introduced a new Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, encompassing Nursing, Public Health, and Medical Laboratory Science, aimed at training future healthcare professionals.
The event featured the administration of the matriculation oath, along with cultural displays, drama, and other activities.
