Lens Polytechnic Offa management has issued an official statement regarding a distressing viral video of a female student allegedly involved in a ritualistic incident on Saturday, July 13, 2024. The video, capturing the victim in a vulnerable state late at night, prompted immediate action from the institution's authorities.

Upon confirming the student’s identity, Lens Polytechnic coordinated with security agents, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Oodua People's Congress (OPC). Investigations revealed that the student was lured by a cleric who conspired with a motorcycle (bike) operator. The identified cleric has since been arrested for further investigation.

The management clarified that neither the bike operator nor the cleric has any affiliation with Lens Polytechnic Offa. The victim, now stable and reunited with her parents, mentioned the institution’s name only while in an unconscious state.

Lens Polytechnic Offa condemns this act of violence in the strongest terms, highlighting the pervasive societal issues of ritual killings, kidnapping, and robbery. The institution emphasizes its firm stance against cybercrime, hooliganism, gangsterism, and cultism through various sensitization programs and campaigns within the Polytechnic and the host community.
