Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has launched its inaugural Medical Laboratory Science General Program, aimed at providing students with exposure to diverse career opportunities within the field of medical laboratory sciences.

The event, held on Sunday at the university’s twin theater, attracted a host of scholars and experts who engaged in in-depth discussions about the future of medical laboratory sciences. The maiden edition, themed ‘Beyond the Microscope’, was organized by the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences as part of an initiative to broaden students’ knowledge of specialized fields, including research, public health, and industry.

Speaking at the occasion, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, represented by the Vice President Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba, commended the organizers, stating that such initiatives provide students with the opportunity to connect with potential mentors and employers. Prof. Israr further emphasized that the program would not only develop students academically but also instill ethical and professional values essential for medical laboratory practice.

The session featured various lectures delivered by experienced academics, covering an array of topics relevant to the future of Medical Laboratory Science and its allied disciplines. The event also included poetry recitations, keynote speeches, an interactive question-and-answer segment, and a photo session.

Distinguished personalities in the field of medical laboratory sciences graced the occasion, including Professor Yelwa Gwarzo, Dr. Tukur Wada Panda, and MLS Moshood Ajayi, President of MLS BUK, among others. Their presence and insights added great value to the discussions on career prospects and advancements in medical laboratory sciences.
