Man O War FUTA Command Welcomes New Leadership
On September 14, 2024, the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) held a ceremony marking the transition of leadership within the Man O War command. Outgoing Chief Coordinator Patriot Oluwaleye Iyanu passed the leadership baton to Patriot Stanley Olisa during the 36th investiture and passing out parade.
On September 14, 2024, the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) witnessed a significant transition in its Man O War command. The event marked the 36th investiture and passing out parade, where Patriot Oluwaleye Iyanu officially handed over leadership to Patriot Stanley Olisa.
In his farewell address, the outgoing Chief Coordinator, Patriot Oluwaleye Iyanu, reflected on the command’s achievements over the past year. His tenure saw substantial progress, including self-defense training programs, skill acquisition initiatives, the establishment of the OSUSTECH command, implementation of digital base management, acquisition of ceremonial wear, hosting of various events and billboards, and recruitment and onboarding of new members. Oluwaleye emphasized the collective dedication and passion of the Man O War FUTA members and urged the incoming leadership to uphold the tradition of selfless service.
Patriot Oluwaleye also expressed gratitude to the university management, particularly Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji, for their unwavering support. He highlighted how the university's conducive environment has enabled the Man O War to engage in diverse, non-academic activities beneficial to the student body.
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Dean of Student Affairs, Professor David Oke, commended the outgoing officers for their contributions to the university and encouraged the new officers to continue their community service with diligence and collaboration with other campus organizations.
Professor Yemisi Adeparusi, the Review Officer and Chairman of the occasion, praised the Man O War for their role in nation-building and fostering university community growth. She advised the new leaders to seek guidance from experienced mentors and to follow the successful paths of their predecessors.
Patriot Stanley Olisa, the incoming Chief Coordinator, promised to maintain the club's commitment to FUTA’s development. The new leadership team for the 2024/2025 academic year includes Chief Coordinator Patriot Obasi Stanley, Deputy Chief Coordinator Patriot Hundeyin Jeremiah, Chief of Training and Operation Patriot Taiwo John, Adjutant General Patriot Lasisi Kehinde, Principal Store Officer Patriot Babalola Pelumi, Director General of Protocol Patriot Ajifa Victor, and Head of Vault Patriot Oladejo Isaac.
The ceremony also highlighted the investiture of new patrons: Professor Muftau Smith, Professor Yemisi Adeparusi, Professor Modupe Ajayi, and Mrs. Florence Adetunji, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the Man O War FUTA command.
