McPherson University Business Administration Students Visit Nestlé Agbara Plant for Industrial Exposure

The Department of Business Administration, McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has taken students on an academic excursion to the Nestlé Nigeria Plc manufacturing facility in Agbara, Ogun State, as part of efforts to connect classroom learning with real-world industrial practice.

The Department of Business Administration, McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has taken students on an academic excursion to the Nestlé Nigeria Plc manufacturing facility in Agbara, Ogun State, as part of efforts to connect classroom learning with real-world industrial practice.

The visit, held on 2 June 2026, was designed to expose students to modern manufacturing systems, corporate operations, and industry best practices within a world-class production environment.

On arrival, the delegation was received by Miss Ifeoluwa Adebayo of Nestlé’s Human Resources Department, who welcomed the team and facilitated a preparatory briefing session before the plant tour commenced.

Students and staff were taken through a series of technical presentations covering key operational areas, including Quality Control and Safety Tips, Safety, Health and Sustainable Environment Practices, and Essential Factory Security Training. The sessions highlighted the company’s operational standards, safety culture, and commitment to sustainable industrial practices.

After the briefing and light refreshments, participants proceeded to the factory tour, where strict safety protocols were enforced. All visitors were issued mandatory personal protective equipment, including safety overalls, hair nets, beard nets, earplugs, and safety boots, in compliance with Nestlé’s operational safety standards.

The tour covered multiple production lines, beginning with the MILO manufacturing section, where students observed the full production cycle from raw material mixing through processing, drying, packaging, sealing, and carton wrapping. The experience provided practical insight into automated production systems and large-scale manufacturing efficiency.

The delegation also visited the NESCAFÉ production line, where officials explained the workflow processes, packaging systems, and logistics operations that support continuous production and distribution. Students were exposed to the integration of quality assurance mechanisms, automation, and supply chain coordination in industrial output.

The excursion concluded at the confectionery section, where participants observed the production of MILO Energy Cubes and MILO 3-in-1 products, further deepening their understanding of production planning, quality control, and industrial safety standards.

Speaking at the end of the visit, the Head of the Department, Dr Abuh Astor, expressed appreciation to Nestlé Nigeria for the opportunity and described the excursion as highly impactful in strengthening students’ understanding of modern manufacturing and corporate management practices. He also presented a McPherson University souvenir to the company in appreciation of its hospitality.
