Meet Zaynab Alkali, Northern Nigeria First Female Novelist

Prof. Zaynab Alkali, a trailblazing novelist from Northern Nigeria, has made significant contributions to the literary landscape of the region. Born on February 3, 1950, in Borno, she is recognized as the first female novelist from Northern Nigeria.

With a PhD in African Literature from Bayero University, Prof. Alkali has had a distinguished academic career, teaching at prominent institutions such as the University of Maiduguri and Nasarawa State University, where she served as Dean of Arts.
