Minister of Education Pledges to Transform Technical Education for Nigeria’s Workforce Development

Nigeria's future workforce is being shaped as the Honourable Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, emphasizes the crucial role of technical education in the country's socio-economic development. Speaking at a recent event, Prof. Mamman committed to transforming technical education, highlighting the importance of equipping technical teachers with innovative tools to foster entrepreneurship and creativity.
Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, represented by Dr. Abubakar K. Isah, called for continuous professional development and the adoption of emerging pedagogies to enhance the capacity of technical teachers nationwide. "Let's empower educators to shape Nigeria's future," he stated, underscoring the need for innovative teaching methods in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
Dr. (Mrs.) M.A. Olodo further emphasized the importance of hands-on learning and digital tools, noting that the Technical Teachers Training Programme (TTTP) is focused on innovative approaches to transform the education system.
Additionally, the GIZ SKYE Programme has been instrumental in enhancing youth employment through TVET since 2018, promoting gender equality and empowerment. The upcoming SKYE II initiative will introduce competency-based training to further support Nigerian youth.
Mrs. Kike praised the Minister’s dedication to technical education and the partnership with GIZ, highlighting ongoing policy reforms and targeted programs aimed at fostering educational growth and development in Nigeria.
