Minister of Education to Inaugurate N2 Billion TETFund Projects at UNICAL's 36th Convocation

The Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, is set to inaugurate TETFund Projects valued at over N2 billion at the University of Calabar (UNICAL) during the institution's 36th convocation ceremony. This announcement was made by the Vice Chancellor of UNICAL, Professor Florence Obi, during a media briefing.

According to Professor Obi, the projects, which include three pavilions and two hostels, were predominantly funded by TETFund and encompass initiatives that were previously abandoned by past administrations within the university.

The inauguration ceremony, which will be attended by officials from TETFund, is part of the activities scheduled for the convocation event. Explaining the significant increase in the number of first-class graduates, Professor Obi attributed it to the implementation of quality assurance measures and the introduction of a scholarship scheme aimed at fostering healthy academic competition among students across all departments.

As part of the convocation proceedings, Most Rev. Dr. Mathew Hassan Kukah, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, will deliver the 36th Convocation Lecture on the theme "Harmonizing Diversities For National Development." The lecture is scheduled to take place at the University's International Conference Centre.

Various other events, including a research fair, gala night for PhD graduates and their supervisors, thanksgiving service, and visits to traditional rulers, are also scheduled as part of the convocation festivities.
