MIVA Open University Receives NUC Visit and Admits 532 Students
The NUC delegation, comprising Prof. Mohammed Ladan, Mr. Nasiru Liman, and Mr. Simon Tertsegha, received a warm welcome from senior officials of MIVA Open University, including the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oladiran Arulogun; the Registrar and Director of Accreditation, Iheanyi Akwitti; Vice-President (Operations), Aniekeme Umoh, and the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Jude Chukwu.
The MIVA Open University, located in Abuja, welcomed representatives from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to its School of Allied Health Sciences. The purpose of NUC's visit was to assess the readiness for the launch of Nursing Science and Public Health degree programs under the university's School of Allied Health Sciences.
This visit aligns with NUC's responsibility to ensure the quality of physical facilities and human resources available for the initiation of new academic programs across Nigerian universities.

During the meeting, Prof. Arulogun emphasized MIVA Open University's focus on innovative, digital, and blended learning models. He also highlighted the university's compliance with NUC-CCMAS standards across all programs, emphasizing their commitment to innovative curricula and technology-driven health, management, and governance programs.
In response, Prof. Mohammed Ladan, the leader of the NUC team, shared the commission's expectations and the purpose of their visit – to evaluate the adequacy of physical facilities and human resources for the Nursing Science and Public Health programs.

The NUC team conducted a comprehensive inspection of various facilities, including nursing science and public health laboratories, the university clinic, multimedia production studio, learner's support services unit, guidance and counseling unit, IT facilities, e-library, physical library, lecture halls, and office spaces for academic staff.
In a statement following their visit, the NUC team acknowledged the uniqueness and excellence of MIVA Open University's teaching and virtual learning model. They commended the university for its resources and urged it to continue its rapid growth and development.
In related news, MIVA Open University recently admitted 532 students into the School of Computing and the School of Management and Social Sciences during its maiden matriculation ceremony on October 28th in Lekki, Lagos. The university, which received its license from NUC in May 2023, was founded by Mr. Sim Shagaya with the aim of making quality education accessible and affordable through innovative and dynamic distance learning.
