Monarch Commends Ugwuanyi and Mbah for Medical University Initiative
Monarch lauds former Governor Ugwuanyi and Governor Mbah for their roles in establishing and supporting the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences in Enugu State.
The Chairperson of the South-east Council of Traditional Rulers, Lawrence Agubuzu, has praised former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his initiative in establishing the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences, Igbo-Eno, in Enugu State. The commendation came during the university's first Founders’ Day celebration, where Mr. Agubuzu highlighted Ugwuanyi's swift action in creating the institution before leaving office.
The university, situated across Iheaka, Orba, Imilike, and Ovoko near Nsukka, received further accolades from Mr. Agubuzu, who described Ugwuanyi as an exceptional politician deserving recognition for his dedication to his constituents.

Governor Peter Mbah also received commendation for his crucial support in ensuring the university's growth and development. Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Chidiebere Onyia, Governor Mbah reiterated his administration's commitment to innovation and efficiency in supporting the institution. He emphasized the significance of projects like the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences in advancing Enugu State's educational sector.

Former Governor Ugwuanyi, represented by his former Deputy Chief of Staff, Malachy Okwueze, expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah for sustaining the university through his support, particularly in funding. He also acknowledged the backing of the National Universities Commission (NUC), symbolized by the presence of its Executive Secretary, Chris Maiyaki, at the Founders’ Day celebration.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, James Ogbonna, highlighted the institution's mission of bridging gaps in medical and allied health sciences education. He praised both Ugwuanyi and Mbah for their visionary leadership and ongoing support, expressing commitment to delivering quality education and healthcare services to Enugu State and beyond.
The State University of Medical and Applied Sciences has seen rapid growth under Ugwuanyi's vision, currently boasting a student population of 1,474 and modern facilities for learning.
The celebration marked an opportunity for reflection on the university's progress and reaffirmed the commitment of stakeholders to its continued success.
