The Nasarawa State Government has pledged its commitment to collaborating with the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) in fostering a green environment that enhances effective teaching and learning. This commitment was made during the inauguration of the FULafia Green Environment Club and the unveiling of a green area at the university's Permanent Site Campus.

Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, the Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, commended FULafia's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, for establishing the Green Environment Club. He noted that the initiative aligns with Governor Abdullahi Sule's efforts to combat climate change in the state.

Yakubu assured Prof. Abdul Rahman that the department of forestry within his ministry would collaborate closely with the newly formed Green Environment Club. "Our joint efforts will contribute to creating a sustainable environment conducive to both teaching and learning," he said.

In his response, Vice-Chancellor Abdul Rahman expressed gratitude to the Nasarawa State Government and Commissioner Yakubu for their support. He emphasized the club's primary goal of improving and sustaining environmental quality to benefit educational outcomes at FULafia.

Prof. Aleruchi Chuku, the President of the Green Environment Club and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, welcomed guests and extended thanks to the vice-chancellor for his unwavering support. She highlighted that the club boasts over 80 members, comprising both staff and students.

The event featured key highlights, including the induction of the vice-chancellor as the club's patron, the inauguration of club members, and the unveiling of a designated green area for the university, marking a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability within the academic community.
