NDLEA Sensitizes Freshers as FCE Ilawe-Ekiti Orientation Shifts Focus to Discipline and Wellness
Day Two of the 2026 Freshers’ Orientation Programme at the Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti, focused on shaping students into responsible individuals and future educators, in line with the programme theme of academic excellence and character development.
The day’s proceedings began with an opening prayer led by Mr Ikugbayigbe John, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem and the College Anthem, creating a formal and engaging atmosphere for the sessions ahead.

Mr Ilori introduced the visiting officials from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), who were present to educate students on drug abuse prevention and security awareness. The delegation included Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics and Public Relations Officer, Mr Ifeoluwa Fabiyi; Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II, Mrs Amogben Mary of the Drug Demand Reduction Department; Chief Narcotic Agent Tajudeen Suleiman; and Senior Narcotic Agent Mrs Dialeowo Esther, also of the Drug Demand Reduction Department.
Mr Ayanleye delivered the first presentation on the topic “Sports and Exercise: A Rung to Academic Excellence.” He emphasised the importance of combining academics with active participation in sports, noting that physical exercise enhances mental alertness, reduces stress, and promotes overall well-being.
In his presentation, Mr Ifeoluwa Fabiyi highlighted the dangers of drug abuse, urging students to remain disciplined and make choices that align with their academic and personal goals. His session reinforced the need for awareness, prevention, and responsibility among young people.
Further enriching the programme, Dr Jimoh, Dr Oyewale, and Dr Olaoye delivered insightful lectures on academic discipline, professional ethics in teaching, and effective study skills for academic success.
Representing the Director of Counselling, Mrs Abere Jumoke addressed the students on the importance of guidance and counselling services, encouraging them to seek support when needed and maintain emotional and psychological balance throughout their academic journey.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Destiny, who expressed appreciation to all speakers, NDLEA officials, and participating students for making the session impactful and engaging.
Day Two of the orientation programme successfully reinforced the College’s commitment to nurturing disciplined, knowledgeable, and well-rounded students prepared for both academic and professional excellence.
