New Era Begins at FCE (Technical) Umunze as Dr. Virginia Ejezie Takes Over Leadership
Prof. Theresa Okoli, the outgoing Provost, expressed gratitude for the support she received during her tenure and encouraged staff to support the new leadership. She congratulated Dr. Ejezie and expressed confidence in her ability to build on existing achievements.
The Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, witnessed a historic leadership transition as Dr. Virginia Ejezie officially assumed office as the 5th Substantive Provost of the institution, following the formal handover by Prof. Theresa Okoli.
The ceremony, which took place on Monday at the Provost’s Office, Main Campus, attracted principal officers, management staff, members of the College community, and well-wishers who gathered to witness the smooth transfer of leadership.
In her farewell remarks, Prof. Theresa Okoli expressed deep gratitude to God and appreciated staff and stakeholders for the unwavering support and cooperation she received during her tenure. She emphasized that the achievements recorded under her administration were made possible through collective dedication, teamwork, and commitment to the institution’s growth.
Prof. Okoli congratulated Dr. Virginia Ejezie on her emergence as the new Provost and expressed confidence in her ability to consolidate on the gains already made by the College. She also urged staff members to extend the same level of cooperation and support to the incoming administration to ensure continued progress and stability.
She further encouraged the College community to remain steadfast in promoting excellence, unity, and institutional development.
In her acceptance speech, Dr. Virginia Ejezie commended Prof. Okoli for her remarkable service and contributions to the advancement of the institution. She described her appointment as both an honour and a call to greater responsibility.
The newly appointed Provost pledged to pursue inclusive leadership, strengthen academic excellence, uphold discipline, and drive sustainable development across the College. She assured both staff and students of her commitment to taking the institution to greater heights.
The event featured the official signing and transfer of handover documents, alongside the symbolic presentation of files, signifying a peaceful and successful transition of leadership.
Among dignitaries present at the ceremony were the Deputy Provost, Dr. T.A.K. Nzeribe; the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) B.C. Nkah; the newly appointed Registrar, Comrade Joachim Eze; the Bursar, Mr. Ethelbert Echedo; the incoming Bursar, Mr. Emeka Oguegbulu; and the College Librarian, Dr. S.A. Agada.
Also in attendance were the Director of Works and Services, Engr. Jude Ezemezue; the Chief Security Officer, Chukwuemeka Ijioma; the College Public Relations Officer, Sam Otti, alongside other management staff and stakeholders.
The transition marks the beginning of a new chapter for the College as the institution looks forward to continued growth and transformation under the leadership of Dr. Virginia Ejezie.
