Niger State Government Signs Letter of Intent with Kent State University for Educational Partnership
Niger State Government and Kent State University, Ohio, USA, sign a letter of intent to establish a Centre at Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna, for transformative educational programs.
A significant milestone was reached as the Niger State Government and Kent State University, Ohio, USA, signed a letter of intent for the establishment of a start-up location for the Kent State Centre at Abdulkadir Kure University (AKU) Minna. This agreement builds on the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two parties to bring transformative changes to the educational landscape in the state and promote intellectual and cultural exchanges.
The Provost of Kent State University, Ohio, signed on behalf of the institution, while the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo, led the Niger State delegation in signing on behalf of the state government.
The new Centre, expected to launch soon, will offer a variety of programs, including a two-plus-two degree initiative, where Niger State undergraduates can complete the first two years of their studies in Nigeria and finish the remaining two years at Kent State University in the U.S., at half the tuition cost. Additionally, students will have the option to study entirely online from Nigeria and earn either a U.S. degree or a dual degree.
Other areas of collaboration include executive leadership programs, aviation studies, vocational skills development, fashion, sports, and investment opportunities, further strengthening the partnership between the state and the university.
The partnership is expected to create numerous opportunities in higher education, business, and investment, marking a promising future for both Niger State and its students. The state delegation also held meetings with representatives from Kent State University and Ohio state officials to solidify the partnership.
