The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Bago, has declared a bonus of N200,000 for each corps member serving in the state under the Batch B stream. The announcement was made during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch B Stream I corps members at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Paiko.

Governor Bago emphasized the state government’s commitment to the welfare of corps members, stating, “All corps members serving in Niger State today are entitled to a N200,000 bonus from Niger farms. So, each of you has N200,000; I understand you’re about 1,600. So we are going to credit your account with N200,000. This is to give you comfort to stay in Niger State.”

Furthermore, the governor revealed plans to construct a permanent NYSC orientation camp in the state, allocating a substantial N5 billion for this purpose. “We want to build a brand new NYSC camp,” he announced, emphasizing the state’s dedication to providing excellent facilities for corps members.

In addition to the financial bonus, Governor Bago pledged automatic employment opportunities for corps members in the medical field upon completing their service. He assured them of the state government’s commitment to their security and well-being during their stay.

The governor also encouraged corps members to participate in the state’s agricultural revolution, urging them to explore opportunities in farming through Niger Foods Limited.

A total of 1,301 corps members have been posted to Niger State as part of the 2024 NYSC Batch B Stream I Orientation Course. The governor’s announcements signal a positive step toward enhancing the NYSC experience for these young graduates in Niger State.
