UBEC Oyo Indigenes Commend Makinde For Chairman Reappointment

Indigenes of Oyo State working with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), have commended the State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for reappointing the former Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Nureni Adeniran as the board’s Chairman.

In a statement made on Thursday and signed by the Coordinator of the Oyo State Employees of UBEC, Comrade Julius Adedoja and the Assistant Coordinator, Mrs Mayowa Akinfenwa respectively, the group declared that the first term of Dr. Adeniran heralded many developmental projects and programmes in the education sector, that were not available before his appointment.

The group attributed the developmental changes to the educationist’s dedication and experienced approach to policies and programmes of the present administration in the State, which have positively impacted on the sector.

“Before the appointment of Adeniran in 2019, Oyo State was listed among the States with high number of out-of-school children and he has worked with the State administration to change this tide, that is no more the case, our pupils are now back in class and doing better.

“Dilapidated structures that used to adorn our public schools are rapidly becoming things of the past, he has really worked to change the status of our schools, pupils now go to school with pride.” Adedoja said.

He however called on the State government to work on building staff quarters for teachers posted to rural communities to reduce absenteeism and enhance effective service delivery, learners’ enrollment as well as commendable attendance.
