Nigerian Defence Academy Warns Kaduna Residents Ahead of Shooting Exercise
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has warned residents of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando in Kaduna to avoid its open range during a live-fire exercise scheduled from February 26 to March 1. NDA spokesperson, Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, stated that the exercise is part of the advanced fire training for Army Cadets of the 72 Regular Course.

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a safety advisory to residents of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando in Kaduna State, urging them to avoid its open range during an upcoming live-fire exercise.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, the academy’s Public Relations Officer, the NDA announced that the shooting exercise is scheduled to take place from February 26 to March 1. The exercise is a critical component of the advanced application of fire package training for Army Cadets of the 72 Regular Course.
Maj. Maidawa emphasized that the exercise will involve live firing of arms, making it imperative for civilians to stay away from the designated area. To enhance safety, barriers and warning signs will be placed around the shooting range to indicate restricted zones.
“Residents, particularly farmers, pedestrians, and cattle rearers, are urged to strictly adhere to these warnings and steer clear of the area during the duration of the exercise,” Maidawa stated.
The NDA reassured the public that safety remains a top priority and called for cooperation from the affected communities. The academy stressed that adherence to these precautions is essential to prevent potential harm to civilians and ensure the successful training of military personnel.
