The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Detachment, has formally inaugurated its new leadership team, with Olaoye Ismail Adebayo stepping into the role of Commandant. In his induction address, Adebayo pledged to lead with unwavering dedication, serving humanity without discrimination, and upholding the principles of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Adebayo, alongside the newly inducted executive team, reaffirmed their commitment to the fundamental principles of the Red Cross, which include Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality. He expressed their determination to preserve the legacy of Sir Jean Henri-Dunant, the society's founder, by “Serving with the Heart: Keeping Humanity in Motion.”
The Nigerian Red Cross Society, FUTA Detachment, has had a significant impact on the university community and was recognized as "The Most Impactful NGO" by the INVICTA Graduating Class of 2022. Under the new leadership, the detachment aims to continue its tradition of service, focusing on humanitarian efforts and outreach programs that benefit both students and the larger society.
Adebayo’s induction marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Red Cross at FUTA, as the team vows to uphold the ideals of the organization while actively contributing to the well-being of individuals on campus and beyond.
