Private schools in Kano, however, opted not to participate in the strike. A proprietress, speaking anonymously, stated, “We are not joining the strike because we are private, and they are not going to give us anything when they get the minimum wage. It is not as if they will share with us. Bring the children to school. If they start disturbing us, then we will know what to do.”

At MAKIA, compliance with the strike was also observed. A source at the airport confirmed that domestic flights were halted, except those for pilgrimages, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at the entrance gates. Aviation unions, including the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP), and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), had earlier announced their commitment to joining the strike. On Monday, union members blocked the airport entrance, preventing passenger access.
