NLNG Unveils UNIUYO Rehabilitated Accident/Emergency Unit

NLNG Unveils UNIUYO Rehabilitated Accident/Emergency Unit

In a significant stride toward advancing healthcare delivery in Nigeria, the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited's Hospital Support Programme (HSP) has achieved another milestone with the unveiling of the renovated and expanded Accident and Emergency Unit at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH). The event marked the seventh project undertaken as part of the NLNG-sponsored HSP, showcasing the company's dedication to improving healthcare nationwide.

The unit's commissioning, officiated by Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, represented by Prince Enobong Uwah, the Secretary to the State Government, saw the presence of dignitaries such as Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas); Olalekan Ogunleye, Executive Vice President (Gas) at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC); Kunle Osobu, Chief Technology Officer (NNPCL); and Prof. Emem Bassey, Chief Medical Director of UUTH, among others.

NLNG's HSP, launched in 2022, aims to enhance healthcare systems across 12 Federal University Teaching Hospitals in Nigeria's six geopolitical zones. The renovated UUTH project is part of the second phase of the programme, which commenced in January 2023.

The renovated UUTH project includes the complete overhaul and expansion of theatre suites, installation of oxygen piping and manifolds, and equipping the centre with modern medical equipment such as ECG machines, Diathermy and Anaesthesia machines, Nebulizers, Electric Suction, POP cutter and spreaders, patient beds, and other essential medical equipment and furniture.
