NOUN's FRSC Special Marshals Complete Training for Enhanced Road Safety
The Special Marshals will undertake roles similar to regular FRSC officers, including traffic control, road patrol, public education on road safety, and traffic management.
The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has launched its Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Special Marshals unit with a successful completion of an intensive training program. The training, which began on July 6 and ended on July 13, 2024, was held at the university's headquarters in Abuja.
The program, aimed at NOUN academics, focused on promoting road safety awareness within the NOUN community and its surroundings. The final training sessions emphasized proper conduct and protocol, including detailed instructions on salutation and appropriate movements.
The new marshals were selected through a rigorous interview process and trained by officials from the FRSC Abuja Sector Command, including Officer Igwe Elizabeth Ndidi, Officer Oladimeji Asiwaju, Officer Hollar Abiodun, and FRSC Surveillance Officers.
Dr. Samuel Iroye, the Unit Coordinator of the NOUN Special Marshal Unit, announced that the official induction of the marshals will occur on August 16, 2024. The Special Marshals will undertake roles similar to regular FRSC officers, including traffic control, road patrol, public education on road safety, and traffic management.
Iroye highlighted that the unit’s dedication to public safety aims to significantly enhance traffic management and road safety within the community.
