The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, has pledged the university’s commitment to collaborating with the National Open University Alumni Association (NOUNAA). This assurance was made during the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the NOUNAA Water Factory project, which took place on September 27, 2024, at the NOUNAA Alumni Village, Kuje, Abuja.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Isaac Buswat, Prof. Peters commended the association's initiative and progress. He emphasized the importance of unity and continuity within NOUNAA, urging the association’s leadership to continue fostering strong relationships for the benefit of the university and its alumni.

The water factory project, which is part of a larger plan to establish an alumni village featuring a guest house, was conceptualized earlier this year. NOUNAA President, Amb. Ifeanyi Kingsley Obukwelu, praised the efforts of the immediate-past president, Muntaka Abdul-Hadi Dabo, now Chairman of the Board of Trustees, for spearheading the initiative. He highlighted the project as a symbol of growth and new opportunities for both alumni and the university.

Obukwelu expressed the association’s commitment to promoting the university’s positive image, with plans for a Memorandum of Understanding to solidify the partnership between NOUNAA and the university.

The Director of the Directorate of Advancement and Linkages, Mrs. Omorogieva Ileka, also lauded the association for its collaborative efforts and encouraged them to maintain their strong rapport with the university.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dabo, who expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and NOUNAA leaders for their support in bringing the project to life.
