NOUN's Fagge Centre Targets 3,000 Student Enrollment by Semester's End

Mr. Ibrahim Shehu, Acting Director of Fagge Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Kano State, has announced an ambitious target to enroll 3,000 active students by the end of the current academic semester. This would represent a significant increase from the 1,000 active students currently enrolled at the centre, which was established just three years ago.

During an interaction with NOUN News, Mr. Shehu highlighted the rapid growth and quality of service delivery at the Fagge Centre. He noted that the centre quickly attained the status of a first-generation study centre in terms of student enrollment shortly after its commissioning.

"The centre's strategic location, coupled with the commitment of the current leadership and the clear targets set by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olufemi Peters, has facilitated the centre's rapid growth and competitiveness," said Shehu. He added that the centre draws students from within Kano metropolis and beyond, attracting local residents eager to enroll in NOUN programs.

Shehu praised the efforts of his predecessor, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Alhassan, who oversaw the centre's affairs from its establishment in 2021 until early 2024. He also acknowledged the contributions of Centre Representative Mr. Ameer Salisu Hamza in building the centre's current success.

Looking ahead, Shehu emphasized the centre's plans to boost student enrollment through aggressive advocacy campaigns and enhanced service delivery. He expressed his gratitude to the university management and local stakeholders, particularly Honourable Aminu Suleiman Goro, for their ongoing support, which has been instrumental in the centre's achievements.
