Nasarawa State University Keffi has recorded another academic milestone as students from its Department of Accounting emerged overall winners at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Abuja and District Society quiz competition, held as part of activities marking its Accounting Week.

The winning team, composed of 400-level students, delivered a strong performance to clinch first place in the competition, earning both national recognition and full scholarship awards covering the entire ICAN professional examination pathway.
The competition, organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, is regarded as a key platform for identifying and nurturing future leaders in the accounting profession.
The achievement was formally announced during a presentation ceremony at the University Council Chamber, where the Dean of the Faculty of Administration, Abdullahi D. Zubairu, commended the students for their exceptional performance and discipline.
He also credited the success to sustained institutional support under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, noting that the enabling academic environment at Nasarawa State University Keffi continues to produce consistently high-performing graduates.

According to the Dean, this marks the second consecutive victory for NSUK in the ICAN quiz competition, reinforcing what he described as a strong academic culture within the Department of Accounting. He further confirmed that the three-member team received full scholarships from ICAN, covering all stages of the professional certification process from foundation to final level.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the students for bringing distinction to the university and sustaining its reputation for academic excellence. She referenced similar achievements in previous years, describing the department as a consistent talent pipeline for professional success in accounting.
She also commended faculty members for their role in mentoring students and strengthening academic outcomes, while encouraging the awardees to pursue even higher levels of professional and public service impact.
The winning students were identified as Akintoyese Bukola Precious, Cletus Gift, and Timothy Daniel Ovey.

The event climaxed with the formal presentation of the championship trophy to the Vice-Chancellor by the Dean, marking another notable achievement for Nasarawa State University Keffi in national academic competitions.
