NUC Team Completes Accreditation Visit to Covenant University’s Masters in Strategic Leadership Program
A National Universities Commission (NUC) team, led by Professor Patricia Taiwo, recently conducted an accreditation assessment of Covenant University’s Masters in Strategic Leadership program. The team evaluated the University’s resources and alignment with NUC standards, acknowledging Covenant’s commitment to leadership development.
A delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC), led by Professor Patricia Taiwo and Mrs. Rita Joseph, has concluded an accreditation exercise for Covenant University’s Masters in Strategic Leadership program. The team’s visit aimed to assess the program’s resources and alignment with NUC standards, underscoring Covenant University’s commitment to academic excellence in leadership training.
During the inspection, Professor Taiwo expressed satisfaction with the University’s dedication to cultivating a new generation of leaders. “We are here to see how far you have come and what improvements can be made to help you achieve your goals,” she said, emphasizing the visit’s purpose to evaluate resources, progress, and future plans for the program.
Covenant University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun Adebayo, welcomed the NUC team and highlighted the significance of their visit. He emphasized that leadership development is central to the University’s mission and expressed confidence in the constructive feedback the NUC team would provide. “What you will see today reflects our commitment as a university,” he noted, mentioning the dedicated Leadership Centre and the contributions of departmental heads as evidence of the University’s focus.
In their exit meeting, Professor Taiwo commended Covenant University for its serene environment, high-quality infrastructure, and dedicated staff. She recommended improvements in internet access at the e-Library and suggested including local materials, such as publications by the University’s Chancellor, in the curriculum to enrich learning. The team also encouraged potential collaborations with institutions like the University of Ibadan to bolster the program.
Expressing gratitude for the feedback, Professor Lanre Amodu, Director of the African Leadership Development Centre, praised the NUC team for their thorough evaluation, noting that their recommendations would guide the University’s future enhancements. Dr. Jonathan Adedayo Odukoya, Acting Dean of the College of Leadership and Development Studies, appreciated the NUC’s professional approach and looked forward to implementing their suggestions.
Professor Emmanuel Olaguju Amoo, Director of the Academic Planning Unit, thanked the team for their detailed assessment, acknowledging the value of their practical recommendations. Additionally, Dr. Felix Chidozie, Acting Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, noted that the visit clarified essential areas for development.
Further acknowledgments came from Dr. Sam Audu, Director of Financial Services, who looked forward to ongoing collaboration, and Mrs. Regina Tobi-David, Registrar, who expressed her appreciation for the team’s efficient feedback and pledged to address their observations.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Olujide Adekeye echoed the commitment to ongoing improvement, emphasizing Covenant University’s dedication to leadership as its academic niche. Concluding the visit, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun Adebayo reiterated the University’s commitment to continuous improvement, stating, “Excellence is a journey, not a destination.”
