The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Dutse, Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed has decorated and rewarded the medal winning team who represented FUD at the last Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) for their outstanding performance during the tournament.

The VC who decorated the athletes at the Senate Chamber, congratulated them for making FUD proud, adding that their exploits during the tournament has marketed the university beyond the shores of this country.

He said Mujtaba Umar, the Gold Medal winner of the Men Badminton Single who eventually represented Nigeria in China during the World University Games has showcased the university globally.

He said the University is proud of their achievements, adding that the athletes should take their sporting and academic activities seriously. He said sport is now a multibillion dollar industry which can gainfully employ the students when they graduate.

The VC said his administration takes sports seriously as they are pursuing various intervention to build more sporting facilities in the university, adding that he has the ambition of building a multi-purpose indoor sports hall in the campus.

Prof. Andulkarim said the Senate will soon look into the case of athletes who missed their exams and find a way of ensuring that the exams are conducted and special attention is given to the athletes.
