FUD to Start Enjoying Free 310MBPS Internet Service

Commencement of the free 310mbps Internet Broadband Service installed by the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy in the University by Wednesday, 13 September, 2023.

The VC who disclosed this to FUDNewsletter said the contractor handling the project has completed it and the Directorate of the Information and Communication Technology of the University has test-run the facilities.

It would be recalled that the institution was among the few universities who benefited from the Federal Government Internet Broadband Intervention Project late last year.

He said the N1.2 billion Internet Broadband Project which covers the entire University Campus will revolutionize teaching, research and community service mandate of the University because it will enhance the quality of teaching and research.

He thanked the Federal Government for choosing FUD as one of the beneficiaries of the

project, adding that digitalization of the University is one of his 11-point agenda, and this project has come to make it a reality.

He called on staff and students to use it strictly for teaching and research activities in order to maximise its benefit.

In his remark, the Director of ICT. Dr. Muhammad Siraj Aliyu said in the course of the project. 10km fibre cable was laid across 20 locations in the campus while four masts were installed at the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Male hostel and female hostel at the takeoff site, adding that these masts were strategically installed to cover the entire campus.

He revealed that the project also provided 20KVA Solar Power Inverter at the Main Data Centre to ensure uninterrupted power supply while the 3KVA solar inverters were also installed in the 20 location where the Wi-Fi devices were installed.
