Number Five, Three, and One Guards Triumph in Inter-Platoon Drills Competition at NYSC Camp

The NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Bayelsa State recently hosted an exhilarating inter-platoon drills competition, where the precision and discipline of the corps members were on full display. The competition, a key highlight of the camp’s activities, saw intense participation from all five guards in events including slow and quick march as well as review order drills.
The drills were conducted with remarkable enthusiasm and skill, showcasing the corps members' commitment to excellence. Capt. C. Clement, Chief Judge and representative of Headquarters 16 Brigade, praised all the participating guards for their outstanding performance. “The level of discipline and coordination exhibited by the guards was impressive,” he remarked.
Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, the State Coordinator, who presided over the event, extended her congratulations to the winning guards and expressed her appreciation for the military instructors and corps members. She highlighted the importance of drills in instilling discipline and fostering team spirit among corps members. Despite the weather challenges, she noted the resilience and dedication demonstrated throughout the rehearsals.
The event, attended by camp officials and corps members, culminated in the announcement of the results:
1st Position: Number 5 Guard (Platoons 9 & 10)
2nd Position: Number 3 Guard (Platoons 5 & 6)
3rd Position: Number 1 Guard (Platoons 1 & 2)
In addition to the competitive results, the Number 3 Guard commander was honored as the Overall Best Parade Commander, acknowledging exceptional leadership and drill execution.
A highlight of the event was the impressive parade display by some of the drills instructors, further demonstrating the high standards of drill training at the camp.
The triumphant guards were awarded trophies in recognition of their achievements, celebrating their hard work and dedication. The inter-platoon drills competition not only showcased the corps members' precision and teamwork but also underscored the values of discipline and resilience central to the NYSC program.
