NYSC DG Assures Safety of Corps Members in Borno State

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, has provided assurance of the safety of Corps members deployed to Borno state.This statement was made during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 Batch C Stream 1 NYSC Orientation Course in Maiduguri.

Brig-Gen. Ahmed emphasized that Borno state is one of the safest states in Nigeria, attributing this to the high presence of military and paramilitary personnel across the state.

The NYSC DG, in his address, highlighted that the hospitality and reception Corps members have received in Borno state have been exceptional. He noted that parents and relatives had initial apprehensions about their children serving in Borno but changed their opinions after hearing about the positive experiences of Corps members.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state also encouraged the newly deployed Corps members to feel free and settle down in the state. He stated that the state is safe, and the government is fully committed to supporting them in their service.

The State Coordinator of NYSC, Akhajii Adamu Jiya, revealed that a total of 824 Corps members, consisting of 489 males and 335 females, were deployed to the state for the Batch C Stream 1 orientation course. They are expected to learn about the cultures and traditions of the local people during their service.

Akhajii Musa Bulama, the chairman of the Borno state NYSC Board, commended the Corps members for their law-abiding behavior and encouraged them to be good ambassadors for their states, local government areas, institutions of graduation, and the NYSC.
